Souls Adrift Playlist

Ah Music. Music is an integral part of my life. Music has a tendency to inspire and heal my life. It is an absolute necessity for writing. Don’t get me wrong, I have moments when I’m writing and listening to music where I want to sing along so bad that I end up typing the actual song lyrics where my story should be going. I’m embarrassed to say, it’s happened more than once.
As my loyal readers know, with every new book release I release my own “soundtrack” for that book. Sometimes the songs are just songs or artists that I listened to while writing and sometimes the songs dance around in my head like an artistic muse, giving my words meaning.
Finishing Souls Adrift was emotionally difficult for me. I was sad to be saying goodbye to the characters that I nurtured through all three books. They are all part of me in so many ways and it’s truly hard to bid them farewell, but I had some pretty awesome tunes to get me through it.
Remember, my musical tastes ebb and flow, so you never actually know what you will find on the soundtrack list.
Here we go!
Miss You: The Rolling Stones – What’s funny about this song is that it haunted me all through 2019. I would hear it everywhere I went and couldn’t figure out why. Once I listened to the lyrics, I realized it fit my story almost perfectly.
Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone): Glass Tiger – An almost forgotten 80s song from this Canadian band. I remember loving it back then and it also seemed to fit into my story.
Vacation: The Go Gos – Fun little 80s tune. Oddly enough, this is always on my vacation playlist too.
Your Wildest Dreams: Moody Blues – Another good 80s tune. This one was more to instill a nostalgic feeling for certain scenes. It worked.
Tempted: Squeeze – I’ll be honest, this has never been a favorite. But, it’s such a catchy tune and it does kind of fit with the storyline.
A Matter of Feeling: Duran Duran – Anyone who knows me personally knows that Duran Duran is my all-time favorite band! I listened to a lot of their lesser-known music while I wrote and this one has always been a favorite of mine. Oddly enough, it also fits in with the storyline.
Barracuda: Heart – My readers will understand that these books often contain two stories. This song is fitting for Jensen’s past life.
Affair of the Heart: Rick Springfield – Because this book is filled with nostalgic references, I believe most of my playlist music just followed along.
Tender Love: Force MDs – I have a very fond memory related to this song. I always thought it was such a stirringly beautiful love song and that hasn’t changed at all.
Spiderwebs: No Doubt – Another favorite band. (I have so many) Jensen was certainly feeling this song during some parts of her journey in Souls Adrift.
Island in the Sun: Weezer – This song just makes me want to be somewhere in the Caribbean with a drink in my hand.
Paint it Black: The Rolling Stones – I was listening to their greatest hits while writing one evening and this song came on at a very pivotal scene in the past life sequence. It played like a movie scene in my head with this song helping me write it all down.
Wish you were Here: Incubus – Again, I don’t listen to them often, but there are a few songs that creep up on Pandora from time to time. If I end up liking what they play, I make sure, before I assume, that I know who it is. Although, they do have a very distinct sound. This one was fitting for certain instances in the book. Also, a little bird mentioned this might be Cam’s favorite band. 😉
In these Arms: Bon Jovi -I felt this song deep in my heart while I was writing the end of Jensen’s past life. I also really love Bon Jovi!
Far Away: Nickelback – Alright…yes, I like Nickelback. I’m unashamed to admit that. This is one of my favorites by them and is quite fitting for the story.
I’m your Man: Wham – This is my 2nd favorite band/artist. I loved George Michael so much and miss him and his contribution to music every day. I love this song. It makes me happy and definitely goes along with the story.
In my Life (I Love you More): The Beatles – This is one of my favorite Beatles tunes and is absolutely fitting for the end of Jensen’s journey.
That's it, the last playlist for the Souls Saga books. I hope you've enjoyed peeking into the tunes that inspired Souls Adrift.
Thanks for stopping by!
