Souls Golden Soundtrack

Souls Golden has been out now for a couple of weeks and I thought it was time to put together the “soundtrack”.
I always listen to music while I write. Sometimes the music contributes to the mood I need to be in to write specific scenes. Sometimes it is a song that I feel goes along with certain scenes or themes of the story.
As I’ve previously stated, my music tastes are eclectic, so you never know what’s going to show up on my list.
Chris Gaines: Unsigned Letter--Chris Gaines is the alter ego of Garth Brooks. This is probably not a well-known song, as I'm not sure Garth's alter ego was very well accepted. As it turns out, In The Life of Chris Gaines is one of my favorites by Garth. Unfortunately, YouTube doesn't have his version of the song, but there is a decent tribute version.
John Waite: Missing You--Anyone that knows me knows I love my 80's music. This was a song that inspired a certain mood for a scene I was writing.
Santana & Rob Thomas: Smooth--Okay, it wasn't likely that Rob Thomas wasn't going to make this list. I love him, after all. Other than being particularly fond of Rob, I felt that Santana's Latin sound helped me feel more immersed in the cultures of South America, without actually being there.
Radiohead: Creep--Souls Eternal never had a real villainous character, but Souls Golden makes up for that. I liked listening to this when I was writing scenes for Gavin/Julian because it made me feel like a creep. And seriously, who doesn't love this song?
Guns N' Roses: Welcome To The Jungle--This was very fitting to listen to once Jensen got her first introduction to the actual jungles of South America.
Santana, featuring Seal: You Are My Kind--This gave me more of the Latin mood. I could actually picture Coco & Felix dancing to this song.
James Blunt: Goodby My Lover--This is a damn sad song! It depressed the hell out of me, but I needed that sadness to get through certain scenes with Coco & Felix.
Queen with David Bowie: Under Pressure--I was actually writing this book when David Bowie passed away. It was ironic that I listened to this song a lot while writing. I think I was personally relating to Jensen's anxiety with her hike into the jungle.
ELO: The Fall--First of all, I don't care how cheesy anyone thinks I am, I LOVE the movie Xanadu. In fact, I listened to that soundtrack A LOT while writing this book. (I still do) This song pumped me up to write a very pivotal scene for Jensen and Cam.
Paula Cole: Feelin' Love--This is definitely a song to get me in a certain mind to write a particular scene. I think the song pretty much gives away what scene that is.
Dido: Here With Me--I've loved this song since they used it as the theme for the Roswell TV show. There is something haunting about it and it fit in with the emotions toward the end of the book.
Bonus song: Sam Cooke: Bring It On Home--I just really love this song and thought it was fitting for the final scene of the book.
Now I'm finished playing DJ for the evening. I'm really excited to see what music inspires and aids my writing of Jensen's next adventure.
Thanks for stopping by!
