It's not actually a block!

First, let me apologize for being so silent for so long. I don’t really have a good explanation for it; but will try to explain the best that I can.

As most writers know, November is National Novel Writing Month. This is when writers commit to writing 50,000 words during the 30 days of November and essentially create a novel out of it.

I will be completely honest. The last thing I wrote was the last entry on this blog. That was November 10. I haven’t written a thing since. I think there was a part of me that was being obstinate and “anti” National Novel Writing Month; so I decided instead of spending the month writing, I would take the whole month off. (Really, I didn’t consciously decide this, it just happened.)

Truthfully, I couldn’t have participated in the NaNoWriMo if I wanted to. I’ve mentioned before, I’m a single, full-time employed, mom. I just don’t have that kind of time to commit to that.

Realistically, I am also at a kind of impasse on my current story. It’s not technically writer’s block; it’s more that the story is at a position where it needs some “ironing out” of the details. It has also been difficult with the holidays and I took a trip to New York City last weekend, so I’ve also been quite distracted, to say the least.

My vacation hasn’t been much of one, though; the male lead character is nagging at me daily to continue. He is eager to get back to it and is a constant reminder that I need to be writing. I hear him, but some other things have to come first and I’m just working out the details of that before I get back to it. It also doesn’t help that there is another holiday coming up to distract me even more.

I will soon get back to it. I am really looking forward to finishing the sequel to Souls Eternal. It just takes me a little more time. I feel like taking the time helps me to create a better story. So, to my male leading man: “Sit down and be patient. I’m getting to you!” :-) And to anyone that actually reads this blog, I will also try to do better at updating things here.

Thanks for stopping by!

Shonna
